Thank you those of you who attended and offered additional assistance at the Colorado Safe Schools Regional Training last week in Thornton. We hope you will agree that we had an outstanding group of sessions offered, with a mix of national and local experts.
We had over 352 attendees for day one of the training, and 268 for day two from 127 various schools and law enforcement and other agencies around our state. Our staff put in many hours of hard work to make the experience a productive, informative, and pleasant one for all who attended or presented.
It was a great opportunity to see Colorado collaboration for school safety at work: with sponsorship of the training by the CSSRC and the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, and some additional financial support from the Colorado Office of the Attorney General and the U.S. Department of Education.
The training offered workshop and plenary sessions by representatives of the following agencies:
- Academy School District 20
- Aurora Public Schools
- Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Behavioral Health, Disaster Behavioral Health
- Colorado Division of Emergency Management
- Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool
- Colorado Society of School Psychologists
- Cyberbullying Research Center, Florida Atlantic University
- Douglas County School District
- Falcon School District 49
- Longmont Police Department
- Nicoletti-Flatter Associates
- Office of Suicide Prevention in the Injury, Suicide and Violence Prevention Unit at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
- Penn State University, Applied Research Laboratory
- Safe2Tell

- The 17th Judicial District (Adams and Broomfield Counties)
- The Colorado Attorney General’s Office
- Senter Goldfarb & Rice, L.L.C.
- St. Vrain Valley School District
- US Department of Education, Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools
We would also like to thank the students from the following schools:
