Colorado School Safety Resource Center Pilot Sites

Please Give Your Input to the School Safety Resource Center surveys by clicking on the links below.

#1 Rapid Responder Satisfaction Survey- to be completed by everyone who participated in the pretactical planning meeting in person (school staff and first responders).

#2 Rapid Responder System Usability Survey- to be completed by everyone who participated in the online training to navigate the Rapid Responder system and/or to upload the information into the system (school staff and first responders).

Pilot Sites News Updates

In an effort to refine our ability to provide resources to all types of school needs, the Colorado School Safety Resource Center is working with pilot sites across the state.

Three of the pilot sites will work extensively with the Colorado School Safety Resource Center to implement the Colorado Pilot Model for School Safety Planning, which includes: Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery elements. This model is consistent with recommendations from the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, U.S. Department of Education. These pilot sites include:

Adams City High School

Durango High School

Montezuma Cortez School District 

The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV) of the University of Colorado provides assessment and planning assistance with Pilot Site Projects.

In the spring of 2009, the pilot sites have begun a three-year school mapping project ( HOUSE BILL 08-1267). This project also includes:

Hayden School District

Lewis Palmer School District

Schools will also:

• Assess their school climate
• Identify the strengths and challenges to school safety in their buildings
• Refine their training and resources to enhance their ability to provide early intervention to prevent crisis situations and safe and secure learning environments for all.

Resources developed within the pilot sites will be made available to all schools across the state of Colorado as the projects evaluate best practices and evaluations are compiled.
